A Phew Phriday Photos
Friday, today, was a solid day of work: meetings, searching for images on the internet, wondering how to best solve some of the most pressing creative problems of the moment. The office seemed to be in a good mood. A pregnant lady seemed to have expanded to third trimester since Wednesday. People smoked their death sticks, worried about client comments, ate snacks, talked in Chinese, and surfed the internet (except Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) with lazy enthusiasm. Cake was served for a birthday celebration. Outside, scaffolding clanked and crashed as road crews jack-hammered and heaved new stones into place. Cars honked, bikes dinged, food vendors yelled “Watermelons!” in their native tongue. The heat was hot. The sky was blue. Sunset came at the expected time.
A few photos:
Scaffolding in the endless construction site next to the office.
The construction site’s fire prevention system.
M.’s kicks.
Milk tea.
Dry fried green beans with pork and chilies.
Braised tofu with pork.
Egg and shrimp.
Feathery pink bears at the florist/fruit stand.
Two little claws I’ve found in my delivered fried green bean lunches.
The landing I look at all day. It’s also the 5th floor’s smoking lounge and potty area. All day long, I watch people going to stoke and tinkle.
Window, chalk, and drawings.
My desk. Most of the stuff is left over from the person sitting their before me. I’m a squatter.
A very large birthday cake.
This has been an exhausting week. It seems like every night there has been a 10PM or later conference call to NY. Plus, until Wednesday, I was at work until 10 anyway working on a video for a meeting. I feel a little out of balance on weeks like this.
Tomorrow we depart in the early morning for a short flight to the pottery town of Jingdezhen. Even though we’re only there a night, it should be a fun getaway. All today, I was nervous that it would fall through due to work obligations. It’s busy these days.
